Hi Les, I am hopelessly overworked this week. Must postpone the work with TE Europe a bit.

ECOVAST is the European Council of Villages and Small Towns, an organisation that spans almost the whole of Europe and is spearheading rural sustainable development since more than 20 years. Brining this organisations members to NING would increase the potential for transition europe enormously.

Thanks Les

You will see I have created a site for all Europe (not just UK!) entitled ECOVASTdiscussion.ning.com

Franz tells me that you have lots of tips for making a network active and effective.

I would welcome advice as the discussion site develops

Great. Another thing is: can you tell me where is the inventory for tagging such contributions?

Les,

I talked with Bernhard Haas who is member of a local municipal council in Gablitz. Lower Austria. The village has done many interesting things in the framework of Transition Initiatives that are worth mentioning. But I convinced Bernhard that his post must be in English, since thats the whole idea of Transition Europe to enable people to learn from each other, find each other and network with each other across the boundaries of countries and languages. So its great to have country categories, we also need tags for fields of endavours, but the very fundamental thing is - everything MUST be in English or we will not be able to use this site properly.

Thank you for consideration.

Dear Les,

thanks for your kind answer. I'm sorry for my rather poor english, but I we will all see, what is going on in the different places. In my village and also in the region Lower Austria (1.5 million inhabitants) there are some current projects, that might be interesting to you and the transition movement. I will ask Franz to help me to find out, what is worth translating into english.

All the best,
Bernhard

Les,

I have deleted some of the categories that would not really be considered European countries either by georgraphical position or by size.

So Its crucial to ask who might be able and willing to host a plattform in their own language first

I just thin that it is better to have these countries have NINGs in their own language - so better have a list with languages spoken. The Justification for NING Europe ist that we are an English- Language exchange place. Germany would have to have TransltionDeutschland etc.
