How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
I am part of the Social Innovation Network - www.social-innovation.org - exploring options and necessities of transforming our society towards 1.) a participative, free association of producers with 2.) a guaranteed basic supply of goods and services that 3.) respects natural limits. Additionally I am working together with GIVE on a number of projects fostering local community adaptation to peak oil, climate change and the worldwide economic crisis.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
The Transition movement is the main option to find a way out of the historic crisis capitalism has forced upon us. A new mode of production and way of living will emerge, because capitalism has reached its inner limits. We will have to design this transition because the new society should be better than the current one. In this perspective, neither the growth economy nor the state will be of much help. Actually, they are part of the hostile environment we need to change into something friendly.
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement?
Creating networks of mutual support; Building up knowledge on capitalism, resource shortages and climate change; spreading knowledge to a broad audience
